2009 Topps Tribute card stock Epic Fail!

So I'm opening a box of 2009 Topps Tribute today, and I'm noticing that the card stock is thick, almost like two cards are just glued together, what was more interesting was that there was color in the middle of the card, which made me wonder... Did Topps actually just glue two cards together? So, taking a double of Lance Berkman, I destroyed the card to figure this out...

The result, YES, Topps did just glue two cards together. Actually, the card on the back is more like a sticker than glued to the card in front. Regardless, that seems like an epic fail that the company didn't just create the card on thick stock to begin with...

  1. Hmmm that seems like they screwed up in manufacturing rather than purposefully doing that. I can't see them intentionally using more ink only to sandwich it into the middle of the card. If so, it wasn't a very intelligent decision.

  4. CAn you tell if the information printed on both is the same? Maybe there was an error and that was their dumb-ass way of correcting it?

  5. The text is exactly the same on both cards, and I doubt they would have messed up every single card in the set...

  6. Probably a production error; subcontractor used too-light stock and tried to make good.

  7. why on earth is this a big deal? It dosen't detract from the card at all. Sheesh some people are just way too picky.
