Ok, after a random entry (using random.org) the winner of the 33 card base set of 2007 Bowman's Best is
SpastikMooss! Send me an email with your shipping address and the cards will be on their way.
Thank you all for playing and clearing out some space for new cards.
Also,
give me some feedback. Do people like free cards regardless of the cards or does there need to be some significant value? Is anybody interested in getting free cards along the lines of refractors, #'ed cards that I'm not interested in? Here's some cards I think I may give away... Some 2009 Goodwin mini's, refractors from Topps Finest and Bowman Chrome. Would people be interested in pick 10 type of giveaways of more common cards from base sets? How about contests where I put up a card, and people provide a "hit" that's of absolutely no value and the winner with the worst hit has to trade that horrible hit in return for the card being offered... For example trading an Angel Berroa relic card for say a pick 10 of a given set of cards.
Depending on the feedback received, I would like to start by giving away a 1986 Donruss Canseco rookie card. It's a bit off center so it's not in mint condition, and others can be found on ebay for maybe $1-2, so I'm thinking maybe somebody would be interested in receiving it for free. So let me know what kind of giveaway's are of the most interest and I'll do another giveaway soon.
just sent you an email, yay free cards!
ReplyDeleteAs for your other ideas, the awful hit thing sounds really fun. I might have to try that at some point. I'm also a fan of your other ideas too. But I guess most giveaways are good giveaways haha.
Thanks again!
Giveaways of almost any kind are cool. I'm not looking for anything special. Just cards in general.
ReplyDeleteContests are always fun as long as they're not too work intensive.
Thanks for cards!
As my granpappy used to say "Free cards is free cards!" Ok he didn't say that, but he should have...
ReplyDeleteI never turned down unloved cards. I may enter more contests for cards that interest me, but that's not a deal breaker either.
ReplyDeleteI think the Night Owl was referring to my contests when he said "work intensive". I love a contest regardless. I liked this one because the Bowmans Best cards are shiny and B because I haven't ripped or seen any of that product and it looks cool. As far as trading hits for base cards-I will always trade a relic that I don't care for in exhange for anything that I want. As far as the Canseco give away. Yes, that is worth more than a stack of Bowmans Best and its cool, but I personally, would be more interested in random cards of a set that I don't know than a hit card of a player that I dont like. Thats just my 2 cents. I do like your contests and your blog and like someone said earlier, free is free and free is good.

Any time someone else is willing to do the work and give away something it can never be wrong. I have found that since I have discovered this tightly knit group of bloggers it has made collecting more enjoyable for me. The creativity and overall enjoyment of the hobby has refreshed my enthusiasm. I like the idea of off-the-wall contests and trades. I am currently working on something for my first contest but I like your idea of the "worst hit" contest.
ReplyDeleteKeep 'em coming and thanks for the giveaways.
I'm up for any kind of contests or give-a-ways.It's all part of the fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm in for any future contests. It's a really generous thing and I really appreciate it win/loss. Unless it's a Swisher or Cano card. Anyway, yeah, keep it up! Thanks
ReplyDeleteI just got these cards today and I love them! I'm probably going to break up the base set, but hey, that's how it goes.
